Some explanations on the credits of the series "X-Files" !

During the first seven seasons of the series, the credits have remained unchanged (same images, same music). For season 8 , with the disappearance of Mulder and the arrival of Doggett , the credits change partially. It is only for season 9 (the last) that it is completely redone.

It usually ends with the sentence (now cult) "The Truth Is Out There".

The credits of the series are signed by Mark Snow (American composer). It is composed entirely by means of a synthesizer. This captivating credits soon becomes one of the characteristics of the series, and is the object of a true cult!

Interpretation of the images of the credits:

The first image to make its appearance is a large "X": this one is illuminated by a beam of white light, which is itself directed on the Truth. One can easily deduce that the series will show the viewer the search for a hidden truth (because in the dark). This is how the name of the series appears: The X Files , the files that nobody wants to hear about.

The next picture is that of a person pointing at a UFO (a white flying saucer): this is a person who witnesses an extraordinary phenomenon, and who shows it to someone else. It is therefore logically deduced that the series will show the viewer these phenomena. Then we see the face of a man who is deformed (fear, pain ...): it is about someone who suffers and who yields under pressure, which lets us assume that the heroes of the series Will face many pressures to access the truth.

We can then read the two words " Paranormal Activity ": these words approach the viewer gradually and indicate the area in which the heroes will investigate.

Then the first interpreter is finally presented, David Duchovny , through a zoom in on his FBI badge . So we discover his face, his name ( Fox Mulder ) and that he works for the FBI . Gillian Anderson is the second interpreter to appear: she plays the role of Dana Scully but this time the angle of approach of the camera is not the same. Indeed, it will look different from that of his teammate and, as a scientist, will offer other hypotheses (several interpretations are possible!).

In the following sequence, the two FBI agents enter the same room: Mulder holds a gun in his hand and Scully directs his torch towards the viewer. So, after having presented them separately, we understand that they will have to work together and that they will complement each other: Mulder will investigate the danger with the weapon as close as possible, while Scully will illuminate him with his lights. The credits end with the maxim " The Truth Is Out There ". And this maxim is still valid since after the first seven seasons, our heroes have still not been able to reveal the truth to the world.
