Fox Mulder is a character from the universe of X-Files . It is an agent of the FBI working on unclassified affairs, particularly strange and mysterious cases potentially related to the supernatural and the paranormal, and therefore left dormant ( "not classified"). It appears for the first time in the pilot episode of the series. Originally, Mulder is the maiden name of the mother of Chris Carter . As for Fox, it is the name of one of his childhood friends 2 .
