Christopher "Chris" Carter is the son of William and Catherine Carter. In high school, he specializes in journalism and graduates in 1979, at the California State University of Long Beach. After his studies, he began writing for the magazine Surfing . For five years, he travels around the world as a correspondent for this magazine, but also as an independent journalist.
In 1985, he was hired as a screenwriter by Jeffrey Katzenberg, president of Disney Studios . He began writing and producing several TV movies, and co-produced the second season of the Rags to Riches series . In 1989, he created his first series: B rand New Life . In 1992, he began developing projects for the FOX chain. It was on this occasion that he created the series that made him famous: The X-Files . A little later, he set up his own production company, named Ten Thirteen . In 1996, he created a new series, Millenium , then Le Roy aume in 1999 and The Lone Gunmen in 2001, Which was to be used as a spin-off to The X-Files . However, none of these series really knows the success ...
In 2008, Chris Carter wrote the screenplay and produced the 2nd feature film of the X-Files : X-Files: Regeneration saga , and is currently working on the screenplay and filmmaking of Fencewalker .
For his work on The X-Files , Chris Carter won 3 Golden Globe (in 1994, 1996 and 1997), a nomination for the screenwriters' guild, two for the director's guild and another nomination for the Emmy Awards.
