Mulder is sent to California to investigate a terrifying audio tape from an employee of a large office agency. The latter describes his superior as a monster "hiding in the light" and transforming his employees one by one into a zombie. When this employee, who is the only one to see the true nature of his boss, takes his place of work as a hostage, he is killed by the forces of order. But Mulder, who was present, comes to believe this mad employee and also sees the monster that hides behind this employer apparently above suspicion ...
