An 8-year-old girl, Michelle Bishop, is found alone near the police station. Inspector Barbala interrogates him to find his parents, but Michelle looks at him without answering. A few moments after the beginning of her "interview" with the girl, Barbala is thrown out the window. Michelle tells Mulder and Scully, in charge of this investigation, that there was another man in the room but nobody entered. The little girl will however allow to construct a robot portrait of the individual. When Scully questions Michelle's mother, she tells him that her daughter scares her and that she is not a girl; Besides Michelle is followed by a psychiatrist. Mulder goes to see Michelle 's psychiatrist, he suggests the hypothesis of telekinesis but he runs up against the " Disbelief of the physician. He learns however that Michelle always dismembered her dolls in the same way ...
